The world is a stressful place; The stress of work, home, travel, health are a few that you can count on your fingers. But it doesn’t come to an end, no matter how hard you try.

Some people choose meditation, some get the help of de-stressing toys and the there are some (like me), who still believe that laughter is the best medicine. Yeah, I truly believe that laughter can cure any kind of illness, and as far as stress is concerned, I don’t even like to consider it as a disease.

You would ask, why?

The reason I don’t put stress in a disease category is because there is no medication for stress which is prescribed by any doctor. Getting my point? When doctors themselves don’t have a pill that can cure stress, there is no point in putting the blame that ‘Stress is a dangerous disease’.

The simplest solution that I have for the much dreaded stress is reading funny stories. Short funny stories or long ones, doesn’t matter.

All you need to do is read something which will take your mind off the problems and things that bother you. Trust me, I have tried this on myself and it works wonders.

How can funny stories cure stress?

You still might not be convinced that there could be such a simple solution to stress, right? Well, let me give you some medical reference that might help you believe in it. When you read funny stories and laugh it doesn’t just works to lighten your mood.

There are many physical changes that happen inside your body while you are laughing your heart out. When you are laughing, you are actually enhancing your intake of oxygen-rich air.

This in turn stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles, and simultaneously it increases the endorphins that are released by your brain. These endorphins then work to increase your heart beat and blood pressure. The result? You feel absolutely relaxed and stress free.

I bet you did not have any idea that these many things happen inside your body while you are busy laughing. But wait, there is more to it. Apart from the things mentioned above, laughter also stimulates the circulation of blood and helps in the relaxation of muscles.

Moreover, if you make it a habit of reading true funny stories, where you can really relate with what happened in the story, you can be sure that you will receive long term positive effects out of it.

You might not know, but when you have a negative thought in your mind, your body changes them into chemical reactions and before you know it, it starts affecting your body. You feel more stressed and in turn, it starts lowering down your immunity.

On the contrary, if you think positive thoughts and laugh every day, positive changes will take place inside your body. To begin with, laughter will produce a natural painkiller inside you and you will literally feel the pain and tension leaving your body for good.

Additionally, it can also help you overcome any difficult and vile situation. It helps you to handle situations in a better way because your mind feels happy.
